Check this out – Mainfreight’s new Hobsonsville domestic transport depot!
This new-build distribution centre in Westpoint Drive enables Mainfreight to service its customers in western and northern Auckland from a local base, instead of relying on existing facilities an hour’s drive away. From this strategic new location, they encompass the areas north of Auckland Harbour Bridge up to Te Hana, and west from Henderson, covering all of West Auckland. This incorporates a vast amount of freight transport throughout the region (approximately 35-40% of Auckland’s total volume), therefore Mainfreight’s new-build freight terminal had to be large – and it is! The centre is a whopping 15,000 m2, which includes the main depot floor, loading areas and surrounding truckways and breezeways. Also included on site are three raised dock levellers, a commercial-grade gantry truck wash, and carparking for 100 vehicles. So there’s definitely a lot going on around the premises!
Mainfreight approached us for robust steel protection for their high-traffic areas, specifically Tru-Gard™ Downpipe Protectors, large Cast-in Bollards, and several runs of Certified Safety Barrier. The scope was to protect vulnerable parts of the building from the multitude of heavy transport and lighter vehicles that circulate the site every day. Galvanised yellow was imperative for both high-visibility and inclement outdoor weather conditions – and aside from this, we love how it looks with Mainfreight’s corporate colours – bright and brilliant!
