Did you know that smashed downpipes cost businesses thousands of dollars every year? They must be one of the most exposed, yet most overlooked, chattels on a building. We see it time and time again; a vehicle gets too close to the premises’ walls and accidentally side-swipes a downpipe, breaking the fragile material and rendering it useless. And if you’ve ever had to replace a downpipe, you’ll know how painful it is, both in terms of unnecessary work and exorbitant cost.
One of the handiest steel products we manufacture is the Tru-Gard Downpipe Protector. Subtle in a galvanised steel finish (like these ones at a Mainfreight transport depot), or high-vis when powder-coated in ‘safety yellow’ – the choice is yours!
This project was a new build depot for Mainfreight transport company, with a number of downpipes in need of protection from the many trucks and forklifts that work on site every day. These downpipes actually carry water under pressure, feeding it down from a large collection tank on the building’s roof. So damage to these downpipes would be even worse than damage to regular downpipes draining from a guttering, because if these downpipes were damaged, there would be water going everywhere! The standard galvanised finish is perfect for protection against the outdoor elements, and it blends superbly with their corporate colours. This is one smart-looking, well protected building.
