As an additional sub-project for the main barrier job we previously installed at this site, our client Pan Pac Forest Productions Ltd at Milburn (near Milton, South Otago) requested gates to allow and restrict traffic access to the logging yard. This is the most dangerous area on the premises as heavy machinery and rolling logs can seriously injure and kill people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time. By limiting the entry of traffic and therefore people to this part of the sawmill, the hazards have been identified and reduced, meeting the business’s obligations to protect staff and visitors from harm. By designing and modifying a few features on our standard Tru-Gard™ Personnel Gates, we came up with a heavy-duty vehicle gate fit for the purpose.
Here you have a sneak peek at some of the features and new designs we will soon be bringing to the market as regular options:
- A new latch for securing double gates firmly in the closed position.
- A locking option on the new latch for added security. You can see the additional holes in the latch where a padlock can be inserted to prevent unauthorised persons from lifting the latch and entering without permission, and it’s great for after-hours security too.
- A new bracket option to enable the mounting of gates directly onto bollards, creating a much stronger gate and also providing additional protection for the barrier should there be a tight squeeze or misjudged angle.
The client is thrilled with the results in terms of security and access control, and the bright yellow visibility of these Tru-Gard™ products makes them unmissable additions to their overall safety strategy.
